Without a milk frother, how do you create a latte?

Don’t worry if you don’t have any expensive culinary equipment–you can still create this latte. All you’ll need is a basic blender to get the job done. Simply pour your milk (or your milk plus matcha if you don’t care about the swirly lovely milk pour) into your blender and mix on high. What’s the end result? In a coffee shop, you normally have to spend $5 for frothy foamy milk.

Coffee vs. Matcha?

Listen, I’m a coffee connoisseur. So don’t expect me to go on the matcha bandwagon totally anytime soon. Having said that, I must admit that this green stuff is fantastic. Matcha is produced from finely powdered tea leaves and contains nearly three times the caffeine found in a cup of brewed green tea.

While a serving of matcha has less caffeine than a cup of coffee, it provides a less jittery, longer-lasting energy boost without the crash. Please add me to the list.

How do you make matcha entirely dissolve?

The trick to creating a fleck-free iced matcha is to dissolve the matcha in hot water. While there are a variety of equipment available (such as matcha brushes and whisks), we discovered that a typical whisk was sufficient for breaking down matcha when it was dissolved in a boiling beverage.

If you’re still seeing specks in your drink, you may puree it on high in a high-powered blender. This will aid in the breakdown of everything.

Also. There are worse things in life than having small green dots in your coffee, so don’t sweat it if you can’t get them all.

Now go conquer the remainder of the week by staying caffeinated!

On Friday, I’ll be back with a new dish.

  • 2 large matcha lattes 1 time

Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk (option of milk) (we used coconut milk and it was delicious)
  • white chocolate, 3 oz., coarsely chopped
  • a sprinkle of salt
  • 1 tbsp matcha (high-quality matcha)
  • a quarter cup of boiling water (almost boiling)

Instructions

  1. Place ice cubes in two mugs and leave aside.
  2. Heat the milk in a small sauce pan over low heat. Slowly drizzle in the white chocolate, stirring continually until the chocolate is fully dissolved. Stir in a sprinkle of salt until everything is completely combined. Remove the milk from the heat and put it aside.
  3. Pour a quarter cup of hot water over the matcha to dissolve it. Whisk for approximately 2 minutes, or until it’s totally dissolved. If your matcha still has particles or if you simply want to stir everything together, now is the time to add the matcha mixture to the chocolate milk. Otherwise, split the matcha between the two glasses that have been made.
  4. In a blender, combine the milk and mix on high for one minute, or until the milk begins to froth and form bubbles on the surface. Pour the matcha over the ice and swirl to combine. Enjoy!
