White Chocolate Cranberry Bliss Bars

Bliss bars are a new holiday tradition in my family. We don’t always have time to bake our own so I tried out this white chocolate cranberry bliss bar recipe from the New York Times that has become an annual favorite for Christmas Eve dessert. The best part is it only takes about 20 minutes and uses minimal ingredients, making them perfect for any busy household!

Starbucks has recently released a new flavor of their popular cranberry bliss bar. The white chocolate cranberry bliss bar is a delicious, creamy treat that will leave you wanting more.

The best way to create cranberry bliss bars is to use fresh cranberries.

One of my all-time favorite recipes is this Starbucks knockoff. The chewy, shortbread-like foundation of these white chocolate cranberry happiness bars is topped with the most amazing cream cheese icing. The dried cranberries complement the orange zest well, giving these bars a Christmas flavor.

So, here are the fundamental procedures for making these bars:

To make the cookie foundation, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt in a mixing Microwave the butter until it melts, then add the sugar and vanilla. In a separate dish, combine all of the dry ingredients and gradually integrate them into the butter mixture. Fold in the cranberries and white chocolate chips, then pour the batter into a 9-by-13-inch pan that has been lined with parchment paper.

Preheat the oven to 350°F and bake the bliss bars for 20 minutes. Stick a knife into the very center of the bars to test whether it comes out clean after they’re done baking.

Allow time for the bars to cool fully before applying the icing. If you don’t, the icing will flow all over the place and cause a major mess.

Spread the thick cream cheese frosting on top of the cranberry bliss bars after they’ve cooled. I then added dried cranberries and orange zest before drizzling melted white chocolate on top.

How do you keep cranberry bliss bars fresh?

The best way to consume these cranberry bliss bars is to keep them in the fridge. They should last approximately a week in an airtight container. Dip them in a glass of milk if they go stale. To avoid messing up the cream cheese frosting on top, preserve them in a single layer if at all feasible.

These white chocolate cranberry joy bars are even better than Starbucks’ version! These are the ideal balance of sweet and sour.

Ingredients

For the bars, use the following formula:

  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • 113 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 eggs, big
  • 12 teaspoon extract de vanille
  • 1 teaspoon zest of orange
  • 218 cup flour (all-purpose)
  • 12 tblsp. baking powder
  • a quarter teaspoon of salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 12 cup roughly chopped dried cranberries
  • 12 cup white chocolate chips or 4 ounces coarsely chopped white bakers chocolate

To make the icing:

  • 4 ounces white bakers chocolate or 12 cup white chocolate chips
  • 8 ounces softened full fat or reduced fat cream cheese
  • 1 cup sugar (powdered)
  • 1 teaspoon extract de vanille
  • 2 tblsp. orange zest (distributed)
  • 12 cup roughly chopped dried cranberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a 9″x13″ baking pan lightly.
  2. In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt butter. Stir in the brown sugar until it has completely dissolved. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Whisk in the eggs one at a time when they have cooled. The vanilla and orange zest are then whisked in.
  3. Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon in a separate basin. Gradually stir in the flour mixture to the butter-sugar-egg combination until everything is well mixed. Combine the cranberries and white chocolate in a mixing bowl.
  4. In the prepared baking pan, spread the batter evenly. Bake for 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the bars to cool fully in the pan before continuing.
  5. Once the bars have cooled, melt the white chocolate in the microwave on high for 30 seconds, stirring every 30 seconds. 2 minutes with an electric mixer, whip cream cheese and powdered sugar until frothy. Add the vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon orange zest, and half of the melted white chocolate to the mixture. Using a spatula, evenly spread the icing over the bars.
  6. Cranberries and the leftover orange zest should be sprinkled over the bars. Drizzle the rest of the melted white chocolate on top. Cover and chill for at least 30 minutes, or until chocolate has set. To serve, cut the bars into bars.

Notes
