The “traditional thanksgiving pies” are the best way to celebrate this holiday. These recipes include pumpkin, pecan, and sweet potato pies.

We’ve got you covered for all the Thanksgiving pie recipes you’ll ever need to cap your Thanksgiving feast on a sweet note, from pecan pie to apple pie to pumpkin pie. Have a wonderful Christmas season!

Recipes for the Best Thanksgiving Pies

BABIES, IT’S PIE TIME. It’s officially pie o’clock, also known as Thanksgiving. I’m not a huge fan of pies in general, but Thanksgiving is pie’s moment to shine. And, although I’d prefer a brownie than a piece of pie, it’s a Christmas tradition to eat at least one slice of pie. Fortunately, we found 23 of them, so if you want, you may have 23 slices. Heh.

Tips for producing the greatest Thanksgiving pies include the following:

  • Make your own pie crust: If you’re preparing pie, you’ll almost certainly need a pie crust recipe. If you’re in a hurry, you can always use a store-bought crust, but handmade pie dough will truly improve your Thanksgiving sweets. This is our go-to recipe for handmade pie crust. It’s buttery, flaky, quick to make, and adaptable.
  • Don’t be afraid to branch out: Everyone likes a nice pumpkin, pecan, or apple pie, but don’t be scared to try something different this Thanksgiving.
  • Serve a range of various types: For me, it’s all about the choices. So that there is something for everyone, I prefer to provide one fruit pie, one pecan pie, and something chocolaty.

Pies made with pumpkin

One of the most traditional Thanksgiving desserts is pumpkin pie, which is also one of the simplest to make. To prepare the creamy, custardy pumpkin filling, you’ll only need a few ingredients. It can be made without any expensive kitchen tools, mixers, or multiple boilers. We’ve compiled a list of our best pumpkin pie variations so you may select your favorite Thanksgiving pumpkin pie to offer this year!

  • Pumpkin Pie with Crème Brûlée: Do you enjoy crème brûlée? Are you a fan of pumpkin pie? Yes? Then let me introduce you to your new favorite dessert: brûléed pumpkin pie. It’s creamy and crispy, and it’s the ideal variation on a traditional Thanksgiving pie.
  • Gluten-Free Pumpkin Pop Tart: Okay, so it’s not strictly a pie in the traditional sense, but it’s simple to travel, share, and has the same pumpkin taste as pumpkin pie. For those with dietary requirements, it’s also enclosed in a soft, buttery gluten-free crust!
  • Ginger Pumpkin Pie: Add a touch of zingy ginger to your favorite traditional pumpkin pie. This ginger pumpkin pie is ideal for Thanksgiving and other Fall gatherings!
  • Sweet Potato Pie with Almond Streusel: This isn’t strictly a pumpkin pie, but sweet potato is a close cousin. To create this deliciously spiced Fall pie with a luscious, buttery almond streusel, replace the sweet potato puree with pumpkin puree.
  • Pecan pie meets pumpkin pie in an addictive mix of tastes and textures in this Maple Pecan Bourbon Pumpkin Pie. Please trust me when I say that this pie is a must-have for your Thanksgiving dessert table.

Pies made with pecans

Pecan pie is without a doubt my favorite Thanksgiving dessert. Maybe it’s because I only get it once a year… or maybe it’s because it’s the finest pie on the planet. It’s a crispy, salty-sweet pie that’s ideal for all of your holiday gatherings.

  • Bourbon Pecan Pie: For Thanksgiving, this is my go-to traditional pecan pie recipe. If bourbon isn’t your thing, feel free to leave it out.
  • Chocolate Pecan Pie: This chocolate pecan pie is screaming your name if you’re searching for something a little bit experimental but not too wild. For a little additional oomph, add a little bourbon and some chocolate chunks to your standard pecan pie recipe.
  • Brownie Pecan Pie: You may have your brownies and your pie at the same time. On the same day. This luscious brownie pecan pie is rich and chocolaty, and it’s easily my favorite Thanksgiving dessert.

  • Maple Pecan Pie Bars: Technically, these aren’t a pie, but I couldn’t leave them out. These cookie bars have all the taste of a traditional pecan pie in a very simple, shareable cookie bar, thanks to a buttery shortbread crust and a salty-sweet maple pecan filling!
  • How much more explanation do you really need for this Deep Dish Double Chocolate Pecan Skillet Pie? Because, in my opinion, the title tells it all. It’s decadent, chock-full of chocolate, and quite possibly the best thing I’ve ever eaten.

Pies with Fruit

Fruit pies are one of the most flexible and crowd pleasing pies you can make for Thanksgiving, with anything from traditional cherry pie to cinnamon apple pie and everything in between. They’re also a good lighter way to cap your Thanksgiving feast on a sweet note that isn’t overly decadent, since they’re made using fresh or frozen fruit.

  • Cranberry Cherry Pie: We’ll certainly be serving this cranberry cherry pie as part of our Thanksgiving dessert buffet this year. For the ultimate festive Thanksgiving pie, it’s packed with a wonderfully tart but sweet filling due to fresh cranberries and luscious cherries.
  • Is there anything more traditional than a slice of handmade cherry pie? This quick cherry pie, baked with fresh cherries and a dash of cinnamon to make it warm for the holidays, is sure to please.
  • Dutch Caramel Apple Pie: This dutch caramel apple pie, also known as a traditional apple pie drizzled with handmade salted caramel and topped with a buttery crumb topping, takes your basic apple pie to the next level.
  • Cinnamon Apple Galette: Apple pie flavor with half the effort. This Cinnamon Apple Galette is the ideal dessert for a quick and simple meal!

  • Mixed Berry Pie: I can eat a berry pie any time of year. This beautiful bumbleberry pie is created with four different kinds of berries and the flakiest pie dough you’ve ever had. You’ll be in paradise if you top it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
  • Mini Apple Pies with Maple Frosting: A hand pie is one of my favorite desserts. They’re adorable, easy, and shared, and they cram all of the delicious tastes of a full-size apple pie into a little, portable treat. With a creamy maple frosting, these little apple pies are extremely delicious.
  • Salted Maple Caramel Apple Pie: We obviously have a thing for maple apple desserts, but this taste combination is incredible. Everyone will want the recipe for this apple pie, which is loaded with fresh apples and a salted maple caramel.

Thanksgiving Pies with a Twist

Sometimes all you want for Thanksgiving is something exciting and unusual. This is where these out-of-the-box, one-of-a-kind Thanksgiving pies come in. Because a boring pie doesn’t have to be! Salty-sweet, decadent, fudgy, and everything in between may be found in pie. To keep things interesting, I try to cook at least one new pie every year.

  • Pour all of the flavors of a brown butter chocolate chip cookie into a pie crust for a Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie. The gooey, chewy, chocolaty taste of a warm chocolate chip cookie is packed into a buttery, slightly salty pie crust in this delicious chocolate chip cookies pie that comes together in five minutes. DROOL.
  • Triple Chocolate Fudge Pie: For chocolate lovers, this is the ultimate dessert dish! It’s a velvety, fudgy chocolate pie that’s simple to prepare and keeps for a long time in the refrigerator!

  • Brown Butter Maple Chess Pie: This brown butter maple chess pie is meant to become a family heritage recipe passed down through the centuries. It has a buttery, flaky pie crust. A custard-like filling. It’s made with genuine maple syrup and golden brown butter, and it’s delicious. It’s everything you could ask for in a Thanksgiving pie recipe, and then more.
  • What is this, a Mocha Chocolate Tart? Do you hear what I’m saying? Oh, my gosh, I believe the chocolate dessert is trying to communicate with you. “M… maakee… maaaake meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  • And the Oscar for the laziest, but tastiest pie goes to salted caramel brownie pie! This semi-homemade brownie pie uses a brownie mix, store-bought pie crust, salted caramel sauce, and vanilla ice cream to create a delightfully rich, chocolaty dessert that comes together quickly.
