Because you use a lot of tahini, which may be rather bitter, I add a drop of honey to balance it out. This may seem strange, but it just serves to balance out the hummus. Trust.
How to make this hummus at home
- Because I like a thicker hummus, the recipe below asks for retaining 1/4 cup of chickpea liquids (aquafaba), but I recommend starting with just 3 tablespoons. If you want it a bit runnier, use the whole 1/4 cup.
- I’m not a fan of garlic in my hummus. Actually, I’m not a big fan of garlic until it’s fried. It’s because I have a nasty case of garlic breath. Lol. As a result, I seldom use garlic in my hummus. However, I know a lot of people like garlicky hummus, so it’s an alternative.
- If possible, use fresh lemon juice. The packaged stuff pales in comparison to freshly squeezed lemon juice!
- To end, I like to serve homemade hummus with a dab of olive oil. Because my hummus has a little amount of olive oil in it, you can pour a lot more on top.
