Spiced Bourbon Cider

The “self-made” cider has a kick! The drink is made with bourbon and then spiced up using cardamom, cinnamon, ginger as well as honey. This beverage will have you feeling like your on vacation from the first sip thanks to its warm spice notes that linger in the mouth long after it’s gone.

The “spiced bourbon recipe” is a delicious drink that can be made with bourbon, honey, and cinnamon.

This cocktail is based on one of the greatest I’ve tasted in a long time. It was purchased at Siena Tavern in Chicago last weekend. We took a seat at the bar, and I ordered a No. 5, a bourbon-based cider drink with spices. It was fantastic. The apple cider gives it a little sweetness, while the ginger, lemon, and cloves balance it out. I made the decision right then and there to prepare my own cider drink for Broma.

So there you have it! It’s so excellent that I’ve cooked it twice since getting home. And if you’re having a chilly spell wherever you are, I’m sure it’d be delicious as a Hot Apple Toddy. Enjoy!

P.S.- Have you gone apple picking yet this season? Do you have an idea on what to do with all those leftover apples? Why not use apples and cinnamon sticks to make your home smell like fall? Place 2-4 apples in a medium-large saucepan and quarter them. Toss in 3-4 cinnamon sticks and enough water to immerse the apples. Bring everything to a boil, then reduce to a low heat and let to simmer for up to 3 hours. Keep an eye on the water level and top it up if necessary (the water will eventually evaporate, so be sure not to leave the house). In no time, your home will be smelling wonderful!
