My loves, I wish you a happy almost-Day! Valentine’s Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays because I can eat chocolate-covered strawberries and brownies all day long. I mean, a holiday dedicated entirely to chocolate and love? What’s not to appreciate about that? This year, we’ll be toasting the occasion with this decadent red wine chocolate cake. It’s strong, fudgy, chocolaty, and really simple to create.

Alex and I love spending Valentine’s Day at home, and I especially adore making us a special Valentine’s Day dessert. This year, I’m baking a 6-inch red wine chocolate cake with nicely portioned portions. It’s the ideal size to share between two people and have a few extra pieces to munch on at midnight all week.

I believe we can all agree that chocolate cake reigns supreme. What if I told you there was a hidden ingredient that would make it even more fudgy, bold, and decadent than it currently is? It’s red wine, to be sure. A red wine chocolate cake is one of my favorites since it enhances the chocolate taste and is a terrific way to use up any leftover wine. Is it just me, or do I usually wind up throwing out at least a quarter of a bottle of wine when I open one? You may now have your red wine and eat it at the same time.

  • This full-bodied red wine will be used in both the chocolate cake and the chocolate buttercream. Intermingle Red Wine Blend: The red wine taste isn’t overpowering; it just adds a somewhat fudgier texture and intensifies the chocolate flavor.
  • Granulated Sugar from Baker’s Corner: Of course, every decent cake requires a little sugar. Baking essentials like granulated sugar from ALDI are very economical and trustworthy, so I enjoy stocking up on them.
  • Baker’s Corner Baking Cocoa: I like to make cakes using cocoa powder instead of melted chocolate since it’s more easier and doesn’t need the use of temperamental double boilers. The smooth, chocolaty, and robust Baker’s Corner Baking Cocoa is ideal for this red wine cake.
  • All-Purpose Flour from Baker’s Corner: All-purpose flour produces a sensitive, soft crumb. If you’re gluten-free, you may always use a gluten-free mix instead.
  • Baking Soda + Baking Powder: To give your chocolate cake the proper rise, use baking soda and baking powder.

Before you frost your cakes, make sure they’re absolutely cold (not even slightly warm).

  • 1 13 cup All-Purpose Flour from Baker’s Corner
  • 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
  • a quarter teaspoon of baking powder
  • a quarter teaspoon of salt
  • 12 cup oil (vegetable)
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • vanilla extract (two tablespoons)
  • 1 cup Red Wine Blend Intermingle

for the cream cheese icing

  • 12 cup room temperature unsalted butter
  • 13 cup baking cocoa from Baker’s Corner
  • 12 CUP SUGAR (POWDERED)
  • 1 teaspoon extract de vanille
  • 2–3 Tablespoons Red Wine Blend Intermingle
  • a quarter teaspoon of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line the bottoms of two 6-inch cake pans with parchment paper. Grease the sides of the pan.
  2. Combine the Baker’s Corner Granulated Sugar, cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl. To mix the ingredients, whisk them together.
  3. In the middle of the bowl, make a well and pour in the vegetable oil, vanilla essence, eggs, and red wine. Whisk the batter until it is smooth and there are no lumps of flour remaining.
  4. Bake for 30 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out largely clean, after equally dividing the batter between the two pans. Allow 10 minutes for the cakes to cool in the pans before removing them and placing them on a wire rack to cool fully before icing.
  5. In a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream together the butter, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, salt, Intermingle Red Wine Blend, and vanilla while the cakes cool. Begin with a slow beat and gradually increase the tempo to a high level. Mix until frothy and no cocoa powder streaks remain.
  6. When the cakes are cool enough to handle, set one layer on a cake stand and spread approximately half of the buttercream in the center. Place the next layer on top of the cake and ice the exterior with an offset spatula, scraping off any excess icing. Serve with a glass of red wine (obviously). Enjoy!
