Thanksgiving is, as you are all aware, my all-time favorite holiday. I’m referring to the turkey, stuffing, sides, and pies… I could go on and on. It’s been a perfect vacation. Except there’s one little snag: where is the CHOCOLATE?! I’m sure I’m not the only one that feels this way. It’s a fantastic supper that would be much better with a sweet chocolate finish.

This is where these pecan pie brownies enter the picture. They’re fudgy, crispy, and nutty, and they’re quite simple to prepare. This simple Thanksgiving dessert will delight you!

What are pecan pie brownies, exactly?

Okay, everyone, get ready. What I’m going to explain *might* be the finest Thanksgiving dessert you’ll ever have on your table. Imagine a pecan pie with a decadent brownie foundation. Except the brownie foundation is much thicker, and the nutty pecan pie top is much thinner. The end product is a delicious chocolate cake with just the perfect amount of crispy, sweet pecan topping.

They’re *chef’s kiss* flawless!

What makes pecan pie brownies so delicious?

The taste combination of pecan pie and chocolate is so underappreciated. For Thanksgiving, I nearly always make this bourbon chocolate pecan pie, and it’s always a smash. This batch of pecan pie brownies is no exception. This traditional Thanksgiving taste is enhanced by the addition of chocolate. A fudgy chocolate foundation meets a salty-sweet, nutty topping for an out-of-this-world dessert.

Enjoy every last morsel of chocolate!

Ingredients

  • 1 brownie mix (from a box), cooked according to the package guidelines
  • half a cup of honey
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (light)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • a half teaspoon of salt
  • vanilla extract (two tablespoons)
  • 1 3/4 cup pecans, chopped (roasted & salted preferred)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a 9 × 9 pan on both sides with parchment paper. Remove from the equation.
  2. Prepare the brownie mix according to the package guidelines. Pour the brownies into the prepared pan, spreading the batter evenly to the edges using a rubber spatula.
  3. Preheat the oven to 350°F and bake the brownies for 15 minutes. Remove the brownies from the oven after 15 minutes. They’ll still be raw, but they’ll be firm enough to keep the pecan pie layer in place.
  4. Make the pecan pie filling while the brownies are baking. Whisk together the honey, brown sugar, eggs, butter, salt, and vanilla extract in a medium mixing dish. Fold in the pecans using a spatula. Remove from the equation.
  5. Once the brownies have cooled somewhat, distribute the pecan pie filling evenly over the brownie layer with a spatula, being careful not to push the filling too deeply into the brownie layer.
  6. Return the brownies to the oven for 20 minutes more, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out largely clean.
  7. Before slicing into 16 brownies, let to cool entirely to room temperature to set. Enjoy!
