My Favorite Easy Chimichurri Recipe

This is an easy chimichurri recipe which I made in my new kitchen. Overall, it was super quick and simple to make and the ingredients are very standard for a Mexican food staple. The flavors were amazing: tangy, spicy and bright with citrus notes all around.

This is a simple chimichurri sauce for steak that I enjoy cooking with. It’s very easy to make and has a great flavor.

This simple Chimichurri Recipe is my absolute favorite rendition of this wonderful Argentine and Uruguayan sauce. Serve it with steak tacos or on top of a steak salad for a taste boost!

Today I’m going to tell you a secret, and it’s a nice one. It’s a Chimichurri recipe (surprise), and it’s my absolute favorite. This stuff is really fantastic, and I’m not trying to brag or anything.

What is the meaning of Chimichurri?

Chimichurri is a delicious, herbaceous green sauce popular in Argentinian and Uruguayan cuisine. It’s generally served with grilled meats and is prepared with chopped parsley, oregano, garlic, olive oil, and red wine vinegar. This chimichurri steak salad is one of my favorites.

So, what makes mine unique? What distinguishes it as the best?

I’m going to tell you something.

Don’t get me wrong: conventional food is delicious, but this version is much better. So, here’s how we did things a little differently.

To balance out the sharpness of such a verdant herb-based sauce, we sought to produce a somewhat more complex taste. As a result, we used cilantro to provide some flavor (because we LOVE cilantro and it tastes good).

Lime was also added to our chimichurri since it goes well with leafy herbs like cilantro and parsley. It adds a lot of vibrancy to the entire taste profile.

Last but not least, two tablespoons of honey were added to our favorite chimichurri recipe. This was a game-changer since it helped to cut through the bitterness of all those herbs.

The end product is a light, delicious sauce that adds zing to any meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 bunch cleaned fresh parsley
  • 1 bunch cleaned fresh cilantro
  • 3 tblsp oregano (fresh)
  • 4 garlic cloves, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • red wine vinegar, 2 tblsp.
  • a half teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • honey (two teaspoons)
  • lime juice (two teaspoons)

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, pulse all of the ingredients until the herbs are finely chopped and everything begins to blend together.
  2. Serve on grilled meats, tacos, salads, and anything else you can think of!
