Ingredients
to make a sweet potato
- 2 pounds peeled and cooked sweet potatoes
- a half cup of brown sugar
- 4 teaspoons melted butter
- a pinch of cinnamon
- a half teaspoon of ginger
- nutmeg (1/2 teaspoon)
for the garnish
- room temperature 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 pound of brown sugar
- 1 cup flour (all-purpose)
- 2 tsp cinnamon powder
- a quarter teaspoon of nutmeg
- a quarter teaspoon of ginger
- a quarter teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 cup coarsely chopped pecans
- marshmallows (16 oz.)
Instructions
- Sweet potatoes should be roasted or boiled until thoroughly cooked. Allow to cool completely before peeling.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F and oil and put aside a 9 x 13′′ pan.
- In a large mixing basin, combine the cooked and skinned sweet potatoes, brown sugar, melted butter, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and salt. Combine with a potato masher or a big fork until smooth.
- Place the sweet potato mixture in the pan that has been prepared.
- In a large mixing basin, add all topping ingredients, except the marshmallows for the crumble, and stir with a fork until the mixture resembles wet sand and begins to clump.
- Over the sweet potato mixture, sprinkle the crumble topping. Preheat the oven to 350°F and bake for 15 minutes.
- Remove the pan from the oven after 15 minutes and top with the whole bag of marshmallows. Cook for another 15 minutes, or until the marshmallows are golden brown and toasted. Allow for 15 minutes of cooling time before serving! Enjoy!
