What are Oreo brownies, and how do you make them?

If you know anything about me, you already know that I am a total brownie girl. I like them all (as seen by the site’s 50 recipes), but these Oreo brownies are unquestionably among my top five favorite brownies of all time. Oreo brownies are exactly what they sound like: Oreos mixed with brownies. The brownies itself are delicious and chocolaty, with the ideal balance of cakey and fudgy texture. Simply toss in some crushed Oreo cookies and your standard brownie is transformed into a show-stopping treat. They’re very excellent.

Fudgy-Oreo-BrowniesInstructions for making the greatest Oreo brownies

  • Use good cocoa powder: Because this is a basic recipe, the quality of your cocoa powder may make or break your handmade brownies. Rodelle cocoa powder is our favorite, but any high-quality cocoa powder would suffice!
  • Don’t forget vanilla: I know that the major emphasis in chocolate recipes is on the chocolate components like Oreos, cocoa powder, or chocolate chips, but a nice vanilla extract is vitally necessary for intensifying the taste of these homemade Oreo brownies.
  • Don’t overbake the brownies: Baking chocolate treats is difficult since you can’t judge by appearance. When baking a chocolate chip cookie or a vanilla cupcake, you can see the cooked items become a golden brown color, but when it comes to brownies, there’s a small line between baked and burned. When a knife put near the edge comes out clean, but a knife placed in the centre comes out a bit moist, remove the brownies. As the brownies cool, they’ll continue to cook, giving you that ideal gooey center and crisp, crispy edge.

How do you keep Oreo brownies fresh?

Because these Oreo brownies are so fudgy, they stay moist for a long time, they’re a terrific snack to drop off for friends or ship to a loved one. Though I doubt even a crumb of these delectable brownies will survive more than a few days, you can always freeze some. Keep them on the counter or in the fridge for up to a week, or freeze for up to 3 months!

Ingredients

  • 1 and a quarter cup salted butter
  • 2 1/2 cups brown sugar (light)
  • 4 big room-temperature eggs
  • a half-cup of cocoa powder
  • a quarter teaspoon of salt
  • vanilla extract (two tablespoons)
  • 2/3 cup flour (all-purpose)
  • 16 pieces of Oreo cookies, crushed

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Set aside a 9′′x9′′ pan that has been greased and lined with parchment paper.
  2. Combine butter and sugar in a large microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds, then remove from the microwave and whisk to combine. Repeat the procedure two more times. Although sugar particles will remain, the idea is to achieve a glossy surface.
  3. Allow to cool somewhat before adding the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Whisk until the color of the mixture lightens somewhat.
  4. Combine the cocoa powder, salt, and vanilla essence in a mixing bowl. Mix in the flour until it’s barely blended. Fold in the Oreo cookie bits last.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking sheet and bake for 45 minutes, checking for doneness after 40 minutes by inserting a knife into the middle of the brownies. Depending on your oven, these might take up to 55 minutes to cook thoroughly!

Oreo brownies, cookies and cream brownies, and fudgy oreo brownies are all adjectives that come to mind when thinking about oreo brownies.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes fudge brownies fudgy?

A: Fudge is chocolate and brown sugar that has been caramelized. The process of cooking the mixture causes it to turn brown, which gives fudge its characteristic dark brown color as well as a rich, gooey texture.

What is the secret to chewy brownies?

A: The secret to chewy brownies is baking them in a water bath. This allows the moist air from within the oven and steam from below to help keep moisture in, resulting with chewy bites of brownie that stay together rather than crumbling apart as you bite into it.

Is oil or butter better for fudgy brownies?

A: Butter is better for brownies because it provides texture and flavor. Oil will make your fudgy brownie taste like a cake!
