Blueberry Pancakes Ingredients

To prepare these delectable pancakes, you’ll only need a few things. And you probably already have the majority of the ingredients on hand, so you can make them anytime you want! What if you don’t have any blueberries? You may always substitute another fruit in their place!

  • Granulated Sugar: A few teaspoons of granulated sugar adds a tinge of sweetness to these pancakes without making them too sugary. That’ll come in handy when it’s time to dunk them in maple syrup.
  • Two eggs make these pancakes light and fluffy without being overly eggy!
  • Buttermilk is required for the airy rise of these simple blueberry pancakes. If you don’t have any on hand, you may create your own with our foolproof buttermilk substitute.
  • Butter: In the batter, a little amount of melted butter makes these pancakes moist and soft. For that extra delicious, buttery taste, we like to use melted butter instead of vegetable oil.
  • All-Purpose Flour: All-purpose flour produces a lovely fluffy crumb! You could always use whole wheat flour instead of all-purpose flour to make them even healthier!
  • Baking powder + baking soda: Baking powder and baking soda work together to give these pancakes a fluffy, mile-high rise. These pancakes are not to be trifled with. I’m talking award-winning fluffy from a restaurant. From the convenience of your own home!
  • Blueberries: For this blueberry pancakes recipe, you may use fresh or frozen blueberries! If you’re using frozen blueberries, be careful not to overmix the batter to avoid leaking blueberry juice into the pancakes.

How to make buttermilk at home

Buttermilk is used in almost all pancake recipes. It’s for a good purpose, too! Buttermilk is more acidic and thicker than milk, giving baked products a tang and an additional rise due to the acidity activating your leavening ingredient. But I’ll let you in on a little secret: no one buys buttermilk. Even though I work in the baking industry, I never purchase buttermilk.

Fortunately, we have a buttermilk alternative that only takes two ingredients and can be used in any recipe that calls for buttermilk.

Make the fluffiest blueberry pancakes with these helpful hints.

Pancakes are one of the easier breakfast items to prepare at home. They aren’t as time-consuming as vegan cinnamon buns, and they don’t even need the use of a mixer. You can create amazing blueberry pancakes in under 15 minutes if you have a bowl, a brain, and 8 ingredients.

  • When it comes to pancakes, there is basically just one guideline to follow: don’t overmix the batter. This keeps your pancakes incredibly soft and melt-in-your-mouth delicious.
  • Grease your griddle generously: Nothing is more depressing than a pancake that refuses to turn. To give your pancakes a crisp buttery finish and make turning them a snap, grease your griddle with butter.
  • Don’t be shocked if your first pancake turns out to be a disaster: The first batch of pancakes is usually a bit awry. Simply toss it aside and keep going!

Notes

  1. Do not, under any circumstances, overmix your batter. Pancakes that have been overmixed will be rough and dry. The batter should be lumpy and streaked with flour!
  2. It’s likely that your first pancake will be a touch wonky! Don’t worry–we usually throw the first pancake (or eat it while cooking lol) since we know the remainder will be picture-perfect!
  3. Keep an eye on the temperature of the pancake griddle. If your pan becomes too hot, take it off the fire to cool, brush away any burned butter, and wait to create additional pancakes to avoid burning!
