Harvest Pizza Made Simple

If you know me, you’re aware that I’m a pizza connoisseur. In fact, the only thing I requested for for my birthday this year was a pizza oven. Why? Because baking homemade pizza is such a fun and simple way to gather your friends and family for a pizza night to remember. Alex and I like making homemade pizza for a date night in with our favorite beer, and it’s become a family tradition. Tilly isn’t bothered by it either.

Because pizza is so adaptable, I’ve made it a mission of mine to prepare it all year, not just in the summer. That’s why I’m so happy to use this handmade harvest pizza to celebrate everything Fall. For the ultimate cozy, autumn taste combination, it’s topped with blue cheese, caramelized onions, roasted butternut squash, and thyme.

For this Harvest Pizza, you’ll need the following ingredients.

When food is fresh and in season, it tastes the greatest. That’s why this autumn pizza calls for all of the seasonal toppings. How to bake pizza at home

Is there anything better than eating fresh, handmade pizza in your own home? I don’t believe so. And Fleischmann’s® RapidRiseTM Yeast makes making fresh pizza in any season a breeze. It will actually be in your stomach faster than a pizza delivered to your door. For years, we’ve been preparing this easy-as-pie homemade pizza dough from Fleischmann’s®, and it’s the simplest supper to prepare at home.

So, how’s it going? Why would we ever go for store-bought pizza?

In a mixing bowl, combine all of the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, salt, and Fleischmann’s® RapidRiseTM Yeast. There’s no need to soak the yeast in water! Mix in the water until you have a soft dough. Knead the dough until smooth, then set it aside to rise for 30 minutes! That concludes our discussion. For a more complete breakdown, check out this step-by-step instruction on how to create the greatest 30 minute pizza crust!

This handmade pizza dough is a crowd-pleaser, but whether you want a thin crust, thick crust, gluten-free crust, or a garlic parmesan crust, Fleischmann’s® offers them all on their website. For this loaded harvest pizza, feel free to use any foundation you choose!

But I don’t have a pizza oven, Sarah!

No worries, boo. You can prepare pizza with any appliances you have in your kitchen. With these fast techniques, an oven or a grill will suffice.

  • If you’re using an oven, preheat it as high as it will go. Ours reaches temperatures of 500 degrees Fahrenheit, which is really hot! Use a pizza stone if you have one to ensure a crispy bottom.
  • If you’re using a grill, preheat it for 15 minutes at 700°F. This will provide a crisp exterior as well as a soft and chewy crust.
  • If you’re using a pizza oven, be sure to follow the directions in the handbook!

For the greatest harvest pizza, follow these guidelines:

This pizza is very simple to cook, but if you follow these four tips, you’ll prevent any SNAFUS and have pizza on the table in no time!

  • To make the butternut squash and caramelized onions ahead of time, follow these steps: The most time-consuming component of this recipe is caramelizing the onions, so prepare them a day or two ahead of time (they’ll keep in the fridge for 3 to 4 days). You may also roast the squash a few days ahead of time. Simply bake until tender at 400°F with a sprinkle of corn oil and salt.
  • Use a pizza stone: Using a pizza stone changes everything. It warms and maintains heat more evenly than a cookie sheet, resulting in a crispy bottom and an even rise!
  • Toppings a la carte: Everyone enjoys a pizza with a lot of toppings. To pack your pizza with flavor, layer everything on top of each other.
  • Use Fleischmann’s® RapidRiseTM Yeast in the following ways: Fleischmann’s Active Dry Yeast is one of my favorites when I have the time, but sometimes you’re simply starving and supper can’t arrive fast enough. Fleischmann’s® RapidRiseTM Yeast comes to the rescue. It’s gluten-free, takes just one rise, and doesn’t need to be activated in water. We’d go so far as to say we’re fascinated.

There’s no need to eat out tonight! In a rush, make this homemade harvest pizza for a delicious, seasonal treat at home!

  • 2–2 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar (granulated)
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • Fleischmann’s® RapidRiseTM Yeast, 1 packet
  • 1 cup of hot water
  • 1 tablespoon oil with a neutral taste, such as maize oil
  • 8 oz. mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 4 oz. blue cheese crumbles
  • 12 CUP ONIONS CARAMELIZED (about 4 onions)
  • 1 cup roasted butternut squash cubes with thyme as a garnish

  1. Preheat the oven to 500°F and place the pizza stone inside.
  2. Combine 2 cups bread flour, sugar, salt, and Fleischmann’s® RapidRiseTM Yeast in a large mixing basin.
  3. In the middle of the dry ingredients, make a well and pour in the heated water. Mix everything together with your hands until it forms a dough. The dough will be sticky at first, but after you knead it, it will come together!
  4. Knead the dough for 5 minutes on a floured surface, or until the texture begins to smooth out. If the dough is too sticky to deal with, add the remaining 14 cup flour a spoonful at a time until it is dry enough to handle. Make a ball out of the dough and set it in an oiled basin. Cover loosely with a dish towel and let aside for 10 minutes to rise in a warm area.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine the corn oil, garlic, and red pepper flakes while the dough is rising. Remove from the equation.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a clean work surface after ten minutes. We like to do this on parchment paper since it’s easier to clean up and carry. Roll out the dough into a 12-inch circle. Brush the garlic corn oil mixture on the dough from the center to the crust using a pastry brush.
  7. Top with caramelized onions, roasted squash, and crumbled blue cheese before serving. Remove the pizza stone from the oven with care and carefully put the pizza on the heated stone. Bake for 10 minutes, turning halfway through. When the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling, remove it from the oven.
  8. Allow 10 minutes for the pizza to cool before cutting and serving.
