Cinnamon Sugar Monkey Bread Muffins

The hardest thing about monkey bread, I believe we can all agree, is having to share it. It’s one of those treats that people bite apart like wild animals, and as much as I like monkey bread, I can’t help but feel like yelling “paws off” to my fellow eaters every time I eat it. Well, your desire has come true, and cinnamon sugar biscuit monkey bread muffins have appeared as a Christmas Miracle.

There’s no need to share.

It also doesn’t hurt that they’re very simple to create.

It’s the type of simple that makes you question why you’d ever bother with anything time-consuming again.

Ingredients

muffins made with monkey bread

  • 2 biscuit dough cans (we used Pillsbury Grands!)
  • 4 teaspoons melted butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar (granulated)
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • a quarter teaspoon of nutmeg
  • a sprinkle of salt

To make the cream cheese glaze, combine the following ingredients in a mixing bowl.

  • 1 cup sugar (powdered)
  • a couple of teaspoons of cream cheese
  • 1 teaspoon of milk
  • a quarter teaspoon of cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and prepare 8 muffin pans with paper liners. Remove from the equation.
  2. Stir together the sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a mixing basin. Remove from the equation. In a small bowl, pour the melted butter.
  3. Cut each biscuit into quarters with a pair of kitchen scissors. To properly coat the pieces, dip them in butter and then in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Fill each muffin cup halfway with biscuits. In each cup, we placed roughly 6 pieces.
  4. Bake for 11 minutes at 350°F, or until the biscuits are largely done but still gooey in the center.
  5. While you’re making the cream cheese icing, let the muffins cool somewhat. In a sauce pan over medium heat, mix together all of the glaze ingredients until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the heated muffins and serve while they’re still warm.
