What exactly is an apple cobbler?

Cobbler is a topic that we receive a lot of inquiries about. It’s not a slice of pie. It’s not crisp at all. COBBLER, COBBLER, COBBLER, COBBLER, COBBLER, CO Cobblers often have the same fruit foundation as crisps, but instead of a buttery crumble, they are topped with a thick, biscuit-like coating. Unlike pie, cobbler has no crust, allowing the apple taste to show through. And plain apple cobbler is delectable.

However, I am a maximalist. I was planning on creating an apple cobbler for the blog when it occurred to me that instead of biscuits, why not use canned cinnamon rolls?! I mean, what’s the harm in that? This wonderful apple pie is topped with huge buttery cinnamon buns. Plus, it’s created with just six ingredients and only one dish, making it a lot simpler to make than a pie.

When making cinnamon roll apple cobbler, what sort of apples should you use?

For the most diversified deep apple taste, we suggest using a combination of apples. To intensify the taste, we prefer to use both tarter, cooking apples like granny smith and sweeter apples. Some of the apples will stay tart and crisp, while others will break down into a jammy, cinnamon-sugar dream. You may use any apples you have on hand for the sweeter apples: gala, honey crisp, pink lady, envy…any sort will do.

Ingredients

  • 2 Pillsbury Grands Cinnamon Rolls cans*
  • 5 apples, big (3 granny smith, 2 sweeter variety)
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar (light)
  • corn starch, 2 tblsp
  • 1 tblsp. cinnamon powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon clove powder
  • a sprinkle of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and butter or oil a 10-inch circular pan or oven-safe skillet. Remove the pan from the heat.
  2. Combine the sugar, cornstarch, spices, and salt in a large mixing basin.
  3. Before slicing the apples into small 1/8 – 1/4′′ pieces, peel and core them. Toss the apples with the sugar mixture to incorporate. This can be done using two large wooden spoons, but I like to do it with my hands. Arrange the apples in an equal layer in the greased dish.
  4. Prebake the cinnamon rolls in the oven for 20 minutes before putting them on. The cinnamon buns will not go soggy as a result of this.
  5. Place the cinnamon buns on top of the apple mixture and return to the oven. Bake for another 25 minutes at 375°F, or until the apple layer is bubbling and the cinnamon rolls are golden brown. Remove from the oven.
  6. Drizzle or spoon the frosting from the cinnamon roll container over the cinnamon rolls. Serve immediately!

Cinnamon roll apple cobble4 is a combination of the phrases cinnamon roll and apple cobble.

Notes

  1. If you use Pillsbury rolls and bake them in a circular pan, you’ll end up with three extra rolls. You may put them in the freezer and use them later! You may either prepare your own cinnamon rolls or use a different brand of cinnamon rolls.
