Dream notebooks are kept by some individuals next to their beds. A recipe diary is something I maintain. Every now and again, a wonderful culinary idea occurs to me. Something so absurdly delicious-sounding that I can’t believe I’ve never considered it before. It usually happens shortly before I fall asleep, which is why I keep a recipe diary. I always scribble whatever comes to me as I fall asleep and wake up dreaming about chocolate clouds.

So, meet chocolate covered pretzel brownies, a.k.a. the brownies of my dreams, a.k.a. super fudgy brownies with chocolate covered pretzels.

Normally, I’d go on a rant about how wonderful these fun brownies are and why you should make them, blah, etc. But…do I really need to go on?

BAM, for example.

What exactly are chocolate pretzel brownies?

Okay, that’s alright. I’m going to do it. These pretzel brownies with chocolate coating are much better than they sound. They’re created with the fudgiest, most delectable handmade brownies recipe, heaped with chocolate coated pretzels (drool), topped with additional pretzels, and drizzled with melted chocolate.

They’re basically the stuff of your salty-sweet chocolaty fantasies. They’re also ideal for the Super Bowl, Valentine’s Day, or pretty much any other occasion when you want to serve a delicious, show-stopping dessert.

For the greatest chocolate coated pretzel brownies, follow these guidelines.

  • Make sure the sugar is melted: Producing your sugar and butter to homogenize is the key to getting fudgy, crackly top brownies like the ones from the box. To obtain the right texture, make sure the butter and sugar combination is glossy and smooth.
  • Use high-quality chocolate: When it comes to easy recipes, the quality of your components is crucial. Your brownies will be made or broken if you use high-quality cocoa powder and chocolate. Rodelle chocolate powder is one of our favorites!
  • Remember that baked products continue to cook as they cool, so remove the brownies from the oven when they’re slightly underdone to create that classic fudgy texture.

That’s all for today, my sweethearts. We hope you as much as we do like these delectable pretzel brownies!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of butter
  • 1 cup sugar (granulated)
  • 3/4 cup flour (all-purpose)
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder (dutch process)
  • 4 ounces coarsely chopped bittersweet chocolate
  • 1 yolk + 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon extract de vanille
  • a half teaspoon of salt
  • 1/3 cup baking chocolate chips (bittersweet)
  • 1/2 cup coarsely chopped pretzels (you can also use chocolate covered pretzels if you want to take it up a notch)

for the pretzels with chocolate coating

  • half a cup of pretzels
  • 4 ounces melted chocolate

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Remove from microwave, whisk in sugar, and wait 30 seconds for both to melt. Stir once more and melt for another 60 seconds. The sugar and butter should gently bubble but not burn. This period of time should enough.
  2. Remove the mixture from the microwave and whisk in the bittersweet chocolate that has been chopped. This should thoroughly melt the chocolate. If it still doesn’t work, microwave it for another 15 seconds. Except for the chocolate chips, combine all other ingredients in a mixing bowl. Fold in the chocolate-covered pretzels and chocolate chips gently.
  3. Pour the batter into an 8′′x8′′ pan lined with parchment paper. Bake the brownies for 30 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the middle comes out clean. Allow it cool completely before adding the toppings.
  4. Place a relatively level layer of pretzels on top of the brownies after they’ve cooled. Pour the melted chocolate over the pretzels, being sure to get it into all of the crevices. This will make it easier for the pretzels to stick to the brownies.
  5. Allow 10 minutes for the brownies to harden before cutting into 16 pieces with a sharp serrated knife. Enjoy!
