What is the definition of chocolate chip cookie pie?

Back in the early 2000s, you undoubtedly had Nestle Toll House’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie. At the very least, I used to eat a lot of it. In my house, it was a big hit. It’s really simple to prepare, filled with all the good things (butter, sugar, and chocolate), and simply delectable.

And, I suppose you could say, Sarah, cookie pie has served its purpose; we’ve moved on to fig cheesecakes and vegan cookies.

I’m here to inform you that we aren’t.

Nothing compares to the ooey gooey goodness of this pie. Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie is still as delicious as it was when I first made it. Like funfetti cake, cosmic brownies, oatmeal cream pies, and all of your other favorite childhood treats.

It’s no different with our Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie. Chocolatey, buttery, sweet, crunchy, chewy… I could go on, but I’m drooling already, so I’ll stop. In other words, it’s flawless.

Now, this may not seem to be much, but Alex declared it to be the nicest thing we’ve cooked this Fall (and we’ve made a lot of wonderful sweets this season). All you have to do now is put your faith in him.

What distinguishes this dish from Nestle’s Tollhouse Cookie Pie?

We tweaked Tollhouse’s original recipe by using browned butter, additional brown sugar instead of granulated sugar, and a dab of vanilla extract to boost the taste.

The outcome is the same gloriously rich, gooey-in-the-middle pie we remember from our childhoods, but with a few more “adult” tastes.

The following day, once all the flavors had a chance to meld, we felt this pie tasted even better cold!

  • 2 big room-temperature eggs
  • 1/2 cup flour (all-purpose)

  2. In a small sauce pan over medium heat, brown the butter. Continuously whisk until the butter foams and becomes golden. Allow to cool fully before serving.
