Ok. So, although this isn’t the prettiest dessert I’ve ever shown, it tastes amazing. It’s difficult to put into words what a fantastic job eggs, cream, and sugar can do for some day-old bread, but I’ll try: It’s creamy and sweet, with no overpowering starch flavor. It’s like eating genuine pudding, however the consistency is more firm and not gooey like regular pudding. It’s filling enough to make you feel full but not stuffed. It’s sweet enough to serve as a dessert, but it’s also good for breakfast with coffee. It’s lightly spiced, and the vanilla taste lingers in the mouth. It’s kaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

To make the pudding, use the following ingredients.

1/2 cup medium brown sugar 6-7 slices day-old bread

a quarter cup of raisins

nutmeg, a pinch

1 cup whole milk (or 2% milk)

3/4 gallon of heavy cream

2 eggs

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Combine cream, nutmeg, sugar, eggs, and vanilla in a large mixing basin.

Heat the milk and raisins in a small saucepan until the liquid is too hot to touch. Incorporate the cream mixture using a whisk. Remove from the equation.

Using a knife, cut the slices into 1-inch squares. Add to the liquid mixture and let aside for 15 minutes to absorb.

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Pour the pudding into a casserole dish that has been brushed with butter. Bake for 25 minutes, or until the top of the crust is golden and crispy. Warm or chilly is OK. Enjoy your meal!

*If you don’t have any day-old bread on hand, preheat the oven to 350°F and toast the pieces until crispy on both sides.
