Banana bread cookie ingredients

There are just 10 ingredients in this one-bowl banana chocolate chip cookies recipe. The majority of these are most likely already in your pantry!

  • Overripe banana: For optimal sweetness, I prefer to use a really brown medium sized banana. If your bananas aren’t the same size as ours, the mashed banana will be approximately a third of a cup!
  • You may use melted butter or shortening instead of vegetable oil, but vegetable oil will give your banana bread chocolate chip cookies the particular smooth crumb that you commonly see in banana bread.
  • Brown sugar helps your cookies stay chewy, soft, and just sweet enough. You may modify the quantity of sugar in the recipe to your preferred sweetness depending on how ripe your banana is!
  • Egg yolk: Using simply an egg yolk results in chewy banana biscuits rather than cakey ones. This will give your cookies enough structure without making them feel like they’re made of bread.
  • Vanilla extract: A dash of pure vanilla extract will elevate the flavor of your banana bread cookies.
  • All-purpose flour: All-purpose flour will give your banana chocolate chip cookies the right crumb. I’ve also made these using whole wheat flour and Bob’s Redmill 1:1 Baking Flour and had great results!
  • Baking soda gives your cookies the distinctive crinkly top chocolate chip cookie appearance.
  • Ground cinnamon: A sprinkling of ground cinnamon on top of these banana biscuits makes them extra toasty!
  • Chocolate chips: Any delicious banana bread, and these banana bread cookies are no exception, is laden with chocolate chips. You are allowed to use whatever sort of chocolate you choose!

For the greatest banana chocolate chip cookies, follow these guidelines.

This simple banana recipe is ideal for inexperienced bakers since it is so simple to prepare! To make great banana cookies every time, follow these three instructions.

  • Use an overripe banana: The riper your banana is, the better it is for baking. A ripe, brown banana will give your banana chocolate chip cookies a stronger banana taste while keeping them delicious.
  • Don’t overmix the batter; just stir it until no flour streaks remain. Do not continue to mix after everything has been fully combined. Overmixing will result in a bready, dry texture.
  • Bake them at a lower temperature: Remember that your banana cookies will continue to bake as they cool, so when you take them out of the oven, they should still be little raw in the centre. They’ll harden into a beautiful gooey center as they cool!

Ingredients

  • 1 mashed overripe banana (about 1/3 cup)
  • 1/2 cup melted butter or vegetable oil
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 yolk of an egg
  • 1 teaspoon extract de vanille
  • a third of a cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon powder
  • a half teaspoon of salt
  • a third cup of chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and mashed banana in a large mixing basin. To blend, stir everything together.
  2. Combine the egg yolk and vanilla essence in a mixing bowl. Mix thoroughly.
  3. Combine the flour, salt, baking soda, and cinnamon in a mixing bowl. Stir until all of the flour has been incorporated and no streaks of flour remain.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips last. While the oven preheats, set aside to allow the flour to hydrate in the dough.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Once the oven is ready, scoop out around 1 inch dough balls using a cookie scoop or a spoon, forming them into balls with your palms. Bake for 10 to 11 minutes, or until the edges are set and the cookies have puffed up, but the middles are still underbaked, on the prepared cookie sheet.
  6. Allow to cool completely before eating.

Notes

  1. I’ve had success using 1 1/2 teaspoons powdered flaxseed combined with 2 Tablespoons cold water for the egg yolk in these cookies to make them vegan. Allow the flax egg to coagulate for 5 minutes before using in lieu of egg yolk in the recipe!
