This cocktail recipe is inspired by the Moscow Mule, a drink that originated in the early 20th century. The cider adds flavor and depth to this classic, making it a refreshing summer sipper perfect for those who prefer their drinks on the less sweet side!
The “caramel apple cider moscow mule” is a drink that combines the flavors of an apple, vodka and ginger beer. The drink is served in a copper mug with ice.
But, really, nothing tops the flavors of fall. Ginger, cinnamon, rosemary, and apple are just a few examples. What is it, exactly? Isn’t it true that this Autumn Apple Cider Moscow Mule combines all of those flavors? OK, that’s OK.
On a sweltering night in Texas, I got the finest Moscow Mule I’d ever tasted. Our childhood friends had relocated to Austin, and my mother, Rebe, and I paid them a visit during college. Rebe, their daughter, and I dressed up and headed downtown for the evening on Saturday. As we prepared for the event, I recall wearing a genuine cowboy hat and drinking apple pie moonshine (side note: it was insanely delicious).
We and our new pals bar hopped till the small hours of the night after making friends at one of the pubs. I got the finest Moscow Mule of my life there, nestled away in a pub off of the legendary Sixth Street. The key, according to the bartender, was to use a nice ginger beer. One that packs a punch. I’ve been addicted to Moscow Mules ever since.
Today’s cocktail is a spin on a classic: a Moscow Mule. A hefty dash of apple cider, to be precise. I also used Absolut Elyx, which is my favorite vodka. Because it’s been distilled in copper casks, it’s exceptionally smooth. This drink is served in a copper glass, which seems appropriate.
It’s even prettier with a large sprig of rosemary, a few apple slices, and a cinnamon stick on top. What’s more, guess what? The cinnamon stick may be used as a STRAW.
I understand. I’m well aware that I am well aware that I am well aware that I am well aware that It’s incredible.
What goes into making a Moscow Mule?
A Moscow Mule is a light and delicious beverage composed with vodka, ginger beer, lime juice, and fresh mint leaves. It’s traditionally served with a lime slice in a copper mug with ice. Moscow Mules are very popular during the summer months, but I adore this drink all year.

It takes less than five minutes to create this apple cider Moscow Mule, and it can easily be doubled or tripled to accommodate a crowd. Simply put the vodka, ginger beer, apple cider, and lime juice in a cup and stir everything together with a spoon to produce this festive Moscow Mule. A Moscow Mule should not be made in a cocktail shaker because the ginger beer will lose its carbonation if shaken too vigorously.
To complete the look, add a spring of rosemary, a cinnamon stick, and a lime wedge to your apple cider Moscow Mule.
