Announcing our Tulum, Mexico Food Photography Workshop!

We are excited to announce our Tulum, Mexico Food Photography Workshop! This workshop is a three hour photography session with some of the best food photographers in Tulum. During this time you will have an opportunity to learn more about lighting and composition while capturing images that can be used for social media posts or printed out as postcards.

The “food photography retreat” is a 3-day workshop that will teach you how to create stunning food images with your camera. The workshop will be held at the beautiful Tulum, Mexico.

YOU GUYS, uh uh uh uh uh I’ve been wanting to tell you about something we’ve been working on for MONTHS. So, please start the drums… From February 10th to 13th, we’ll be presenting a 4-day food photography class in Tulum, Mexico!

My team and I have been working tirelessly to provide the finest food photography course for you (did you know that the last workshop I conducted was in 2017?!) , and with winter just a few weeks away (I’m so sad), we figured what better way to get away from the cold than a tropical food photography retreat?!

Join us at the gorgeous waterfront property Papaya Playa Project for four days of fun, sun, and food, where you’ll spend your days immersed in food photography, eating as many acai bowls as you can handle, photographing local cuisine, and learning everything there is to know about storytelling, light, and composition.

This session is for photographers who have a basic understanding of food photography and want to improve their skills. We highly advise that you have some experience with manual DSLR camera settings and editing. We’ll have open dialogues throughout the workshop about our professional objectives and how to build a strong and friendly community of creatives. I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone who will be attending this class. The following are the main themes that will be discussed:

Composition How do you arrange a well-balanced food photograph? We’ll go through the fundamentals of composition as well as more advanced tips and methods for capturing the ideal food photo.

Storytelling We’ll put together beautifully selected food tales, explain why we styled them the way we did, and dig out the emotional connection between the spectator and the food.

The Human Factor One of the finest ways to connect with our food images is to include the human aspect in our photography. We’ll experiment with hands in the frame, discuss ways to include the human aspect in our photos, and discuss strategies for guiding individuals in your image.

Work at a Restaurant Because photographing in restaurants presents a unique set of obstacles for food photographers, we’ll go offsite one day to picture at one of Tulum’s greatest restaurants. We’ll create a tablescape together, photograph it, and then devour all of the amazing food!

1:1 ratio Each photographer will get the opportunity to meet with me one-on-one to discuss their specific company and objectives. We’ll go through items that are particular to your company, and you’ll get the chance to ask me any questions you have.
