  • 9 croissants with almonds (preferably stale)
  • 1/2 cup sugar (granulated)
  • 3 quarts of milk
  • 5 room-temperature eggs
  • almond extract (1 1/2 teaspoons)
  • 1 teaspoon extract de vanille
  • a half teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 cup almonds, sliced


  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Butter a 6 to 8 cup baking dish generously (we used an 11 x 7 inch casserole dish, but you can use whatever you have on hand).
  2. To carefully pack the croissants into your baking dish, cut them in half and place them around each other, tucking them beneath one another. Remove from the equation.
