Air Fryer Smashed Potatoes

Quickly, we all know how to say the two most important words in this introduction paragraph. The quick answer is that Air-Frying is a cooking technique that uses hot air blown across food which creates dry, crispy results. This method of cooking dates back as far as ancient China and its cousin called radiation frying has since become popular with chefs in restaurants worldwide.

The “air fryer smashed red potatoes” is a recipe that uses an air fryer to cook the potatoes. It is a simple, yet delicious meal.

So, what exactly are mashed potatoes?

Smashed potatoes are a delicious side dish for supper, brunch, or even a snack, and I’ll eat them at any time of day. They have a finer feel to them than french fries, but they are much more tasty than mashed potatoes. Plus, you won’t need much oil to make them nice and crispy when you air fried them, so they’re also very healthy!

To make mashed potatoes, combine all of the ingredients in a large mixing bowl.

These smashed potatoes are not only tasty, but they’re also very quick to make–I’m talking about four basic ingredients and just a few minutes of prep time. In fact, most of the components are likely already in your cupboard. What you’ll need is the following:

  • Potatoes: Small gold or red potatoes are recommended!
  • You may also use butter or your preferred oil instead of olive oil. You won’t need much of it thanks to the Café Air Fry setting to make your smashed potatoes nice and crispy.
  • Garlic: We prefer to add freshly minced garlic, although a teaspoon of garlic powder would suffice. That’s one of the best things about this smashed potato recipe: it’s completely adaptable!
  • Salt: Of course! To take these potatoes to the next level, you’ll need some salt.

How to create super crispy mashed potatoes

I knew we had to put in the most beautiful and efficient kitchen when we signed the lease on our stunning new studio space. I mean, come on…DUH. As a result, having a Café range was a no-brainer. Our Café electric range is both attractive and practical. I was already a fan of the smart control capabilities, which let you preheat, set timers, and manage your oven from your phone, but there’s more. The No Preheat Air Fry Mode is by far my new favorite feature. Café released a “Over-the-Air” software update in April, and I can’t seem to quit air-frying anything I see. Is your oven in need of a software upgrade? What do you mean? SO COOL, I know. You can upgrade the software on your Cafè oven to get new features and modes just as you would on your phone or computer!

I’ve long wanted an air fryer and am thrilled that one is now incorporated into my oven. SCORE. These downloaded software improvements are continually assisting me in improving my culinary skills, and I’m forward to see what Café has in store for us next! The Café range’s Air Fry option heats up the oven and circulates the air, resulting in exceptionally crispy mashed potatoes. You essentially get all of the crunch of deep-frying without all of the oil and cleanup.

I’ve included a list of some of our other potato-crunchy-guaranteed suggestions below:

  1. Make smashed potatoes using little potatoes: You may make smashed potatoes with any kind of potato, but I believe that small potatoes provide the crunchiest results!
  2. Leave the skins on: Potato skins not only provide taste and nutrients to the dish, but they also crisp up nicely.
  3. Don’t overcrowd them: The more room your potatoes have to circulate, the crispier the edges will get. On my baking sheet, I prefer to space them approximately 2 inches apart.
