Advice on how to make the greatest angel food cake

Using a stand mixer will make a huge difference in the outcome of this angel food cake recipe. Don’t oil your pans: I know, I know, this goes against everything I normally say, but angel food cake is such a light and airy cake that it requires the edges of the pan to cling to in order to rise. For a smoother release, we suggest covering the bottom of the pan with parchment paper. Assemble just before serving: When fruit has been sitting in cream for a long period, it might become strange. Because this cake is so simple to put together, we suggest doing it the day before you want to serve it to ensure that everything stays as fresh as possible.

With this patriotic angel food cake, we hope you enjoy all of the joyful events this week! Happy 4th of July, everyone!

Ingredients

  • Angel Food Cake Mix from Baker’s Corner
  • 13 quarts strawberries
  • a third of a cup of blueberries
  • a third of a cup of raspberries
  • 1 pint Heavy Whipping Cream from Friendly Farms
  • 14 cup powdered sugar from Baker’s Corner

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and prepare two 8-inch baking pans with parchment paper. Remove from the equation. Prepare the Baker’s Corner Angel Food Cake Mix according to the package instructions, then divide the mixture equally between the two pans using an offset spatula to ensure uniform and level baking. Bake for 25 minutes, or until light golden brown on top and a knife inserted in the center comes out largely clean.
  2. Place the heavy whipping cream, powder sugar, vanilla, and a sprinkle of salt in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment while the cakes cool. Beat the cream on high speed until firm peaks form and it is light and fluffy.
  3. Place one of the cakes on a cake stand or serving dish and top with half of the sweetened whipped cream. 12 of the berries should be on top. On top of the whipped cream, place the second cake and finish with the remaining whipped cream and berries. Before serving, chill the dish!
